Why it’s important to delete the word BUSY from your Vocabulary

If you are clear about what you want out of our business, what your vision, mission and purpose is, then you are on a clear path to success. But the question is, are you BUSY trying to make it all happen?

We recently interviewed Joshua Zerkel, a man who has made organisation an art form. It is important for you, as a business owner, to organise your day, week, month and year. It is important to keep your goal in sight. And it is as important to be “productive”.

Joshua talks about Evernote and how it is helping business owners everywhere get organised.

If you are looking for some terrific advice on how you can increase your productivity, then tune in to episode 156 of the Business Brain Food Podcast and listen to Joshua share some of his best productivity advice.

Joshua touches on some fantastic points:

  • Learning how to say no. An important trait for any business owner. When you learn to say no to the things that are not going to be beneficial to you, you automatically increase productivity. You should also say no to things that make you FEEL good but has no impact on your business planning or your life.
  • Don’t tell people you’re busy. Being busy makes you look like you are disorganised. Tell people you are productive and getting stuff done. Use apps like Evernote to help you do just that. There are other apps like Wunderlist that can do the same.
  • Assign tasks – don’t dictate them. Go back to good old fashion communication. Kick this bad habit out the window and talk to people. Engagement is key.
  • Write down everything! Document Everything! Keep a track record of Everything! This is the best bit of advice to increase productivity and be efficient. Once you have everything written down you can delegate accordingly.

In this episode of the Business Brain Food Podcast, you will learn:

  • The importance of productivity
  • The definition of Productivity
  • Time Management
  • How apps have changed the way you organise

Productivity can also increase your ability to prioritise which is important for any business owners. You don’t want to be stuck doing things that are not important. We are all busy and always have heaps to do. How do we manage to get the important things done first?

There are simple steps that you can take to prioritise. After deciding what is important for the growth of your business and making a list of those things, allocate what needs to be done first, second, third and so on.
