“Every year social media develops and changes. There seems to be a never-ending number of updates and algorithm tweaks and unless you’re looking out for all these changes it can be hard to keep on top of it all and your bound to miss a major update.
It is not hard to see that in the current economy, if you want a brand to thrive it has to have an effective social media presence. As entrepreneurs and business owners we have to stay ahead of the game. So, how is 2019 going to be different? How will you master social media? And what is going to propel your brand online in 2019? Here are three ways you can stay on top of it all in 2019.
First things first, this is no secret - Content Is King. This past year we all came to realise that quality content is the front-runner of the online realm. Quality creates engagement, it works the algorithms, it pushes your brand to the top of the pile. Quality content and consistent content will always convert. The next year will push that further. The trust that customers and clients will put into reputable content will dominate over paid adverts more than ever before. Therefore the more quality and engaging the content is, the more engagement, the more chance you have of getting eyes online. Don’t be afraid to be different. Think outside the comfort area of your brand; be creative. After all, gaining the attention is the first step in converting a potential customer.
We all know that social media platforms grow and evolve and in order for us all to succeed online we need to grow with them. Therefore - Strategy Is Boss. It doesn’t matter which platforms you focus on, which industry you are a part of, if you want long-term success you need a strategy in place. It is so easy for us to get caught up in ideas or trending topics but sit down and figure which will be the most impactful for your brand and audience. Plan, post and deliver.
With so many platforms and such little scrolling time we are a world that want information and we want it fast. Every year the amount of video content we consume continues to grow and some experts are tipping that 2019 will be the year that 80% of what we consume online will be video content. The developments in technology mean that anyone with a smart phone can record a really good quality video and upload it to their social media platform of choice within minutes.
And don’t forget about Live video. 2018 saw the introduction of IGTV and a monumental growth in Facebook Live video to the point where we get notifications when people are going live. Being able to hop on board with live video streaming can transform the authenticity of your brand. It is a powerful tool that allows you to engage with your audience and strengthen the bond with your followers. Yes, the pressure can be on when the light turns red or when there is some background noise you can’t control which keeps interrupting your video but this technical platform will only strengthen the trust and loyalty your customers have for your brand, authenticity leaves room for genuine mistakes.
We really do live in a time which makes it easier than ever to reach and communicate with our target market. As always, the new year will bring challenges our way and the social media platforms we love will continue to evolve and change but if you continue to do the basics well and embrace any changes that do occur, you’ll be able to master social media in 2019.”
