Finding the best business coach for you is not an easy task. It seems that every networking event you attend there are dozens of self-proclaimed individuals that call themselves the best business coach in Sydney.
A Google search will quickly turn up a stack of AdWords results with headlines such as ‘Best Business Coach in Sydney’ or ‘Best Business Coach in Australia’.
Let’s get real, any business coach that tells you they are the best business coach for you without having a chat with you, and understanding what your needs are, is unlikely to be the best. More to the point, if they have to rely on paying for ads to get new clients, you have to ask yourself why? Wouldn’t the top business coach have a constant flow of referrals?
Why?
Because they haven’t taken the time to get to know you or your issues, how can they claim to be the best business coach for you?
I did a quick search on LinkedIn for a Business Coach in Sydney and a whopping 2733 people come up with the title of Business Coach in the geographic area of Sydney.
It would be fair to say that a lot of these people would like to be known as the best, and they may well be an amazing Coach. That doesn’t make them the best business coach for you.
Here’s a list of five things you can do to help find the best Business Coach in Sydney for you…
Be clear about why you are looking for a Business Coach
Be clear about the goals you want to achieve by working with a Business Coach. Write out a list of reasons why you want to work with a Coach, and what you’re hoping they can help you with. Every Business Coach will work with you differently. It will make it a lot easier for you if you’re clear on what you want.
Meet with them first to see if you’re a good fit
Getting around Sydney can be difficult, and this can make it less desirable to head out and meet with a Business Coach face to face. Choosing a Business Coach is an important step towards growing your business, your Coach will be working closely with you, it’s a good idea to be comfortable with who you’ll be working with. You should meet with them, visit their office if possible, this way you’ll meet their team and get a feel for their values and if they are the best Business Coach for you.
Look at online reviews from other clients in Sydney about the Business Coach you’re considering
Online Reviews is a great step to evaluate a Business Coach. If a Business Coach doesn’t have any online reviews this should raise a few questions. Happy customers should be leaving positive reviews on their Facebook page or Google listing, if the Business Coach has disabled their reviews this could be a warning that maybe they have had too many negative reviews (Yes, we know of several business coaches in Sydney that have disabled their reviews to hide the negative comments).
Reviews are great as they are not able to be fabricated like testimonials can, they are likely to be genuine customers leaving feedback. You should expect a Business Coach to have a mixture of reviews, but it should be mostly positive. Allthough, you can expect to see the odd negative review, not everyone is ideal for coaching
If they run client events, ask if you can attend as well
Some Business Coaches will run events for their clients in addition to one on one coaching. This is a great way for you to talk directly with active clients to see how their experience has been. If a Business Coach won’t let you attend an event, that would be another warning sign that maybe they’re not the best Business Coach for you.
Has the Business Coach got a lot of experience in Sydney?
If you are in Sydney, you’ll want a Business Coach with a lot of experience in Sydney. A Business Coach that has a lot of experience in Sydney will understand the marketplace and be usually have a good list of contacts to help you out.
