Today, I’m going to share with you a few tips on how you can get more engagement on your Facebook page.
If you’re like most of us, you’re a little bit frustrated by the fact that only a small percentage of the people that ‘like’ your Facebook page ever actually see your posts. It’s below 10%. In fact, some would say it’s as low as 4%.

So what I thought I’d do is first of all, I’d like to say don’t get too hung up on how many likes you have on your page. And this is the one thing I hear a lot of people say– I say, ‘What would you like help with when it comes to social media?’ They say, ‘I’d like more Facebook page likes.’ I say, ‘Why?’ And they’ve got no idea– especially when you think about the fact that maybe only 4 or 5, 6% tops is seeing your posts on a regular basis. So the only benefit to having likes is to make you feel good.
The reality is, Facebook is a good marketing platform, and I’d actually suggest spending a little bit of money using the advertising features. But if you don’t have a budget, I’ve got a few tips on how you can get more engagement just using the Facebook news feed and putting better posts up on your page.
First of all, use video. I’ve done some testing, and video is getting up to 10 times the amount of engagement than a written post. Now I know there’s no way of proving that, it’s not scientific, and Facebook could definitely change the algorithms tomorrow, which would make it really difficult, but at this point, if you’re to upload a video to Facebook– I’m not talking a YouTube link, I’m talking directly uploading a video to your Facebook feed– it is getting up to 10 times as many people viewing it. And of course, it’s getting more engagement. People like watching video. Keep them short, keep them sharp, and you’ll see an increase in the amount of people that are engaging with you on Facebook.
The second tip then is to use pictures. A lot of posts that get the majority of the engagement, especially business pages, are quotes. And those quotes aren’t just written, they’re actually a picture with the words on them. People like to see that appealing visual graphic in their newsfeed. It’s going to stop them in their tracks. So use pictures if you want to get more engagement. It’s been proven to get a higher engagement. So just go with the flow and give that a go. I’m turning into a poet, haha, but anyways.
And my third tip for using Facebook to get more engagement is rather than just posting an update, post a question. Ask a question. So for example, ‘What are you struggling with this week?’ or ‘How can you apply this to you?’ Whatever it might be. Just ask a question. Then make sure you stick around to interact. The more you interact with people, the more engagement you’ll get, the more people will see your post, and the better results you’ll get out of social media.
Now having said all of that, you’ve got to make sure you have a marketing strategy that ties in with your business goals. So don’t just do this on Facebook for the sake of doing it, have a way of engaging people so you can get them off of Facebook and into your database, buying stuff from you.
That’s it for this week’s tip. How about if you’ve got a tip, leave it in the comments below of something that’s really working well for you to increase the engagement you’re getting on Facebook. And of course, if you like the video, ‘like’ it. I’d love for you to share it, let’s get as much engagement as we can with this video. And subscribe to my YouTube channel as well to make sure you never miss another video. And until next time, have a profitable day.
