So in through this door is the secret studio. It’s not really that secret, you see. But we’ve got curtains up across the windows so no one can see into here. But come on in through with me, and I’ll show you how simple it is to get these better quality videos. And of course, I’m wearing a lapel microphone, which I’ll talk about in a second, which audio is a big part of it. But visuals are important too. So come on through.
So this is sort of like our secret little den. You’ll see the desk up here for when we run our Turbo Training for our clients, and that’s all been set up properly. Then over here, we have this whole big light setting. And this was very, very cheap on eBay. Cost around $300 for the light setup, and that included the backdrop. So I’m going to show you that.
Now as I come through here, you’re going to see the difference that it makes to the quality of the video. We’ve probably got this amped up so in the dark you could probably see me a little bit. But it’ll give you a good idea of how bright it all is. And you can’t see any of the other gear around, so it becomes a very, sort of, professional head shot video you can do very, very cheaply in your own business.
And it is just those three lights. I’ve got a light up overhead here. Okay, so this is called a hair light, and it’s very, very important because this will light up the top of my shoulders and my head. Then we’ve got two other lights. One is called the fill light, which is sort of a little bit dimmer than this one– this one is a key light, which is the brightest of those three lights. So by having those lights set up and with the black background, it makes it very professional.
Now the background itself is simply one of those pop-out things that you can never put back. I don’t know if you’ve ever used one of those before. But it’s just a frame, a bunch of clips from Bunning’s clipping on the black cloth. You, of course, could use white. You could use a green screen if you wanted to. I just like to make the production as simple as possible.
Now I did mention the lapel microphone before– I think it’s the most important aspects of the video– not the most important, but one of the most important aspects is the audio quality. And it’s very easy just to go with an on-camera microphone, but I think you can really benefit by having a pro sound. So this is the Senheiser– it’s like a battery operated– it’s called the Senheiser G3. And it was around $700, and it’s lasted for a couple of years so far, and it’ll last for a couple of years more. It’s fully mobile and battery operated, so I highly recommend that.
So there you go. Simple for this week’s video, just showing you how we get this video quality. And if you want to do the same in your business, get yourself onto YouTube, put them onto your website, or maybe put them into your emails– really want to start getting people to interact with you in another way– then it’s very, very simple to do. Hopefully that was helpful. Cheers. See you next time.
